25/03/2016 Georgian Water and Power held a press conference dedicated to the issue of Sulfur Baths
Georgian Water and Power answers all the existing questions regarding the waste water bills of the Sulfur Baths in the format of press conference. According to the Company’s management the Sulfur Baths spread information which is not consistent with the reality. The Company points out that the Sulfur Baths have not been paying the waste water bills for more than a year. None the less Georgian Water and Power has been abstaining from taking rigorous measures and setting the wheels in motion as it normally does in respect of other profit-making establishments. It was done so in order not to interfere with the business operations.
The Company specifies that sulfur water is discharged into the collector of Tbilisi during 24 hours.
Georgian Water and Power takes water to the Gardabani Treatment Plan afterwards. Sulfur water requires special filtration as it is chemically active and particularly affects the Company’s infrastructure as compared with other waste waters.
As to the Sulfur Baths’ tariff and bill – the existing tariff is set by the Georgian National Power and Water Supply Regulatory Commission and the payment due cannot be changed for individual companies.
Georgian Water and Power repeatedly declares that the baths may not enjoy privileges as compared with other profit-making or residential customers.
The Company chooses civilized way of action and will wait for the court decision in order to resolve the problem.
