19/03/2014 Georgian Water and Power have Summed up Results of Works of Crisis Management Headquarters
Today the briefing has been held at Georgian Water and Power for familiarizing with results of works of Crisis Management Headquarters . Giorgi Gachechiladze Head of the Headquarters has summed up results of works.
As it was mentioned at the briefing Crisis Management Headquarters was functioning under emergency conditions. It was aiming at eliminating a specific problem – immediate response and minimization of emergency breakdowns in the backbone water supply networks as a result of severe winter.
Special attention at the briefing has been drawn to management principles and model of Crisis Management Headquarters, which provided achieving desirable result – as of today in Tbilisi there are actually no accumulated faults.
According to Giorgi Gachechiladze Head of crisis-proof headquarters – “The Headquarters have actually completed their function, the crisis has been overcome and at present we are working on improving the situation. It may be said that the situation is under control, the process is manageable, faults on the water supply networks have been reduced as well as cases of water closure, and concrete areas of water closures. In addition we are trying to carry out technical works during night hours in order to minimize discomfort for our customers“.
The crisis-proof headquarters which has been staffed with leading specialists of different departments of the company, is under constant control of Board of Directors of the company. Its main key factors are promptness, exacts coordination, urgent response to emergency breakages and strict monitoring of their elimination at a stated time.
Crisis Management Headquarters, as a result of 24 hour maximum coordination operation, has achieved the following:
- Reinforce the company’s emergency service with new crews and special vehicles. 28 new, well equipped mobile crews were added to the existing 57 emergency crews.
- Detect and eliminate large and small more than 100 emergency faults accumulated throughout Tbilisi during the winter season.
- Develop an urgent action plan for each fault
- Planning of urgent technical works for each concrete fault
- Assign accurate technical tasks and establish reasonable time for their fulfillment.
- In order to create less discomfort for customers, carry out technical works during night hours instead of daytime - though it creates more difficulties for the company and costs increase as well.
- In order to create less discomfort for customers, disconnect small supply areas when carrying out technical works, which will result in water closures for a comparatively short period of time
- Control of fulfillment of the tasks at a stated time.
GWP Crisis Management Headquarters started work from 12 February. Establishment of crisis-proof headquarters is a temporary activity and it will work till full resolution of the problem.
