03/04/2014 “Georgian Water & Power” is carrying out strengthening work on the main pipe passing in Tsitsamuri 03 April 2014
“Georgian Water & Power” is preparing 1400 mm VI main water piping for rehabilitation. For this purpose the company has been carrying out the strengthening works on the section of the main line passing in Tsitsamuri ravine since 11:00 a.m. today. The works of such type are necessary technical measures to be taken prior to starting reconstruction in order to increase the main piping reliability.
Taking into consideration the fact that in terms of the landscape the most complicated part of 1400 mm VI main water piping passes in Tsitsamuri ravine of Aragvi gorge, the head of the anti-crisis staff of “Georgian Water & Power” George Gachechiladze visited the ongoing works for monitoring purposes.
Length of the main passing in Tsitsamuri ravine makes up 4 000 meters. The strengthening works are being simultaneously carried out by 8 technical brigades in 8 different places with the use of heavy vehicles. The works provide for the strengthening of those places of the main piping, where soil slip or erosion process and precipitation caused baring of different sections of the pipe, which on its turn endangers stability of the main artery and increases the risk of its failure.
The strengthening works will take the company maximum 20 hours and finish tomorrow at 7 a.m. For the purpose of carrying out the works properly some districts and settlements of Gldani region will be discontinued water supply in the above-mentioned period of time. Water supply will be resumed since 7 a.m. tomorrow on April 4.
