13/10/2010 This is Your Vital Product – Save Water!
In the framework of the week of local democracy organized by the EC, several joint events have been carried out by Tbilisi Municipality and “Georgian Water and Power” Ltd. The events aim to promote saving of water resources and the quality of Tbilisi drinking water.
This morning, on “Georgian Water and Power” Ltd. administration’s initiative, an educational tour has been organized for the students of Georgian Technical University. They have been taken to Grmagele Filtration stationa and the Company’s central laboratory. The students have seen with their own eyes the technological processes of water treatment: coagulation, sedimentation, filtration, treatment with activated coal, chlorination. The students have also watched functioning of a chemical-bactriological laboratory, where the water quality is checked regularly in automatic regime and, in parallel, the laboratory staff is controlling according to 33 parameters on hourly basis. “Georgian Water and Power” Ltd. Administrative Director, Nikoloz Bakhtadze, and Tbilisi Municipality representatives have taken part in the tour.
At 12:00 the event was shifted to Pushkin square, where “Georgian Water and Power” Ltd. organized an action-exhibition under the title “Save Water!”. Infromational flyers were disseminated in the framework of the exhibition and, in parallel, there was also organized so called “Moving Exhibition”. GWP cars with photos were moving in Tbilisi streets all day long and reminding the population of the necessity of saving water resources.
With the help of such kind of actions “Georgian Water and Power” Ltd. and Tbilisi Municipality try to increase the population’s awareness concerning the necessity of drinking water quality and its rational consumption.
