21/06/2012 Central Lab recieved ISO accreditation
Central chemical and microbiological laboratory of Georgian Water and Power Ltd obtained accreditation complying with ISO-17025 standard. The ISO was granted based on all the factors and requirements to be satisfied in full by any laboratory controlling water quality. It can be said with confidence that Georgian Water and Power company owns the best water quality controlling laboratory in Georgia which meets all the modern standards and requirements. The Central Laboratory coordinates and controls operation of all other laboratories of the company.

Complete modernization of drinking water quality controlling Central Laboratory located in Grmagele Filter Station was completed by GWP Ltd at the end of 2011. The Company made GEL 1,5 m investment for this purpose. The up-to-date European machinery and auxiliaries installed in the laboratory allow controlling water quality at a higher level. In connection with the modernization of the laboratory and obtaining ISO-17025 accreditation the management of GWP Ltd conducted number of trainings to retrain laboratory specialists including with participation of European experts.
GWP Ltd studies quality of drinking water for chemical and microbiological parameters. Laboratory control of water quality is exercised by the Company’s specialists in an uninterrupted mode during 24 hours. The up-to-date machinery installed in the laboratory allows accurate definition of organic compounds: oil products, volatile substances and pesticides as well as sanitary and toxicological characteristics: alkali, alkaline earth, strictly limited high-density metals or surface active substances and cyanides and detect existence of even insignificant admixtures. According to the conducted analysis parameters of drinking water supplied to Tbilisi are by far lower than maximum allowable concentration and its quality is in full compliance with national standards and recommendations of the WHO.
