24/08/2012 Georgian Water and Power Put into Operation ‘Vazisubani I’ Drinking Water Reservoir
Georgian Water and Power has put into operation new 7 500 m3 capacity reserve drinking water reservoir ‘Vazisubani I’. Several days ago the company completed works for preparation of the newly rehabilitated facility and its connection to the existing network.
The company has started complete reconstruction of one of the important facilities for Tbilisi water supply, which was equal to a new construction, from March and has just completed. The company rehabilitated this reservoir for providing additional volumes of drinking water under the project of uninterrupted water supply of Tbilisi. In the process of reconstruction the company used such latest approaches, which enabled them to carry out works in compliance with the international standards in the shortest possible time. As a result of carried out reconstruction works seismic stability of the reservoir has also been provided.
After putting into operation Vazisubani I water supply will significantly improve in Vazisubani micro regions, Moscow Avenue, Cairo, Bogdan Khmelnitsky, Tsiskari, Cholokashvili, Tsuladze, Dodashvili, Kindzmarauli and adjacent streets. Vazisubani settlement will be supplied with water stably and uninterruptedly.
In addition for the purpose of uninterrupted water supply of the streets, Georgian Water and Power is carrying out quite a number of technical arrangements at Samgori head work for creating additional resources of drinking water. By the end of the current year the company will install up-to-date pressure regulators and automated boosting pumping units step-by-step. These are up-to-the-minute European pumping units, which will regulate water pressure automatically according to changes in water consumption. By installing new equipment the company will steadily provide uninterrupted water supply for the population of the specific streets by the end of the year.
All complex technical arrangements taken by Georgian Water and Power aim at one goal - providing uninterrupted water supply of Tbilisi, which will be carried out within old borders of the capital by the end of 2012.
