31/08/2012 Rehabilitation works on water supply networks are going on in Varketili settlement
Today, CEO of GWP Ltd Joerg Matthies together with other top managers of the company familiarized head of Infrastructure Development Department of administration (Gamgeoba) of Isani-Samgori district Shota Grigolia and member of Tbilisi Sakrebulo Kakha Guruli with the ongoing water supply system networks’ rehabilitation works in micro district 3a of ‘Varketili 3’ settlement and the reconstruction works in pumping station located on Varketili Upper Plateau.
Internal streets of micro district 3a of "Varketili 3" are included in the list of those 150 streets of Tbilisi, the replacement of amortized and obsolete networks of which is being carried out by GWP in accordance with the plan for this year. Water mains and branches adjacent to 338, 342 and 343 high-rises are being rehabilitated in the said micro district. 780 meters of depreciated water supply networks will be completely replaced, 8 new locking and regulating valves will be installed and 6 new junction wells will be installed.
Along with micro district 3 of Varketili 3 the Companyis simultaneously carrying out reconstruction of underground communications on 18 streets of Tbilisi at the present stage. Furthermore the networks rehabilitation works are already completed on almost 100 streets. The Company has been carrying out rehabilitation works for 4 years now within the limits of the “Rehabilitation of Water Supply and Main Networks” project. The company completely renewed more than 200 kilometers of the street networks through 2011. Almost 100 kilometers of the networks are being rehabilitated in the current year.
As for reconstruction of pumping station in Upper Plateau of Varketili, the company re-equipped the station with 2 automated boosting units. These up-to-date pumping units are manufactured in Europe and can automatically regulate pressure in accordance with the change of water consumption. The Company has already connected them to the operative network. Just by putting in operation this pumping station the Company will ensure stable and uninterrupted supply of water to 926 customers residing on Upper plateau of Varketili.
The Company is constructing 12 new powerful pumping stations at the moment to ensure continuous water supply of Tbilisi. Furthermore 50 pumping units of automatic operation are being installed in different districts of Tbilisi. This process will come to an end by the year-end.
All complex technical arrangementsmade by Georgian Water and Power are aimed at one goal of providing uninterrupted water supply to Tbilisi, which will be carried out within old borders of the capital city by the end of 2012.
